Remote Deposit FAQ

After enrolling for remote deposit in online or mobile banking you can easily deposit a check using your mobile device or PC and scanner.  Deposits, if done before 3:00 PM ET, are credited the following business morning.

Use the images on our Remote Toolkit to make your first remote check deposit to see how easy it is and get $1 just for trying!  Print the images and make sure to date the front and then sign, add your member number and date the back.

How do I remotely deposit a check?

Access DeposZip by logging in to online or mobile banking, and navigating to ‘check deposit’ under ‘manage money.’  Access the mobile banking hamburger menu if you have an iPhone, Android or Windows mobile device.

What are the hardware and software specifications for DeposZip?

Desktop supported operating systems:

  • Windows 7 or Greater
  • Mac OSX 10.8 is supported using Load or Zero-Client features only

Supported Browsers:

  • Internet Explorer
  • Firefox
  • Safari (Mac only)
  • Chrome (Windows only)

Mobile:

The App Store (Apple)

  • Operating Systems iOS7 or greater
  • iPhone 4s or higher
  • iPod touch 4th Generation or higher
  • iPad 2 or higher and iPad mini

Google Play (Android)

  • Smartphones with the Android 4 Operating System or greater
  • Android Tablets
  • No “Small Screen” support I.E. all but “QVGA” 240Wx320H are supported

Windows Store (Windows Phones)

  • Operating system 8.0 and greater

How quickly will the depost be credited to my account?

All deposits will be posted the next business day by 10:00am EST.  Deposits made after 3:00pm EST will be considered deposited the next day and will post the second business day by 10:00am

How quickly will the funds be avaialable for me to use?

Funds will be available immediately upon being credited to your account.

Is there a limit on the amount of cash that can be deposited?

The default limit is $1,000 per check/day and $4,000 per rolling 30 days.

Are there any type of checks that cannot be submitted using DeposZip?

The following items cannot be submitted for deposit using DeposZip:

  1. Checks written off the same account that the check is being deposited to are not permitted and will make your account ineligible for the DeposZip program.
  2. Savings Bonds
  3. Foreign Checks
  4. Checks previously endorsed by GenFed
  5. Any item that is “stale dated” or “post dated”
  6. Any item that is incomplete (i.e. missing the date, missing the payee, etc.)
  7. Any item that contains evidence of alteration to the information on the check
  8. Any item that is stamped with a “non-negotiable” watermark
  9. Checks that were previously deposited and returned NSF (second deposit)
  10. Checks that have already been deposited and cleared as paid

How should I endorse the check?

Please sign the back of each check and include the following endorsement information:

For deposit only at GenFed Financial CU

Account Number: ####*

Via DeposZip

On mm/dd/yyyy**

*#### = your account number
**mm/dd/yyyy = today’s date

Please note: if the back of the check is not properly endorsed, we reserve the right to reject the check for deposit.

How do I make a deposit through Online Banking?

After you endorse the back of the check(s) according to the instructions above, you will need to do the following:

  1. Log in to your Online Banking account.
  2. Click on Check Services – Remote Check Deposit
  3. Select the account you wish to deposit to, and then click Submit. Note: You may need to disable your internet browser’s pop up blocker if you have one enabled.
  4. Select your scanner (you will only need to do this one time).
  5. Enter the total deposit amount of your check(s).
  6. Scan the front and back of your check(s).
  7. Review and submit your deposit.

How do I make a deposit with my mobile device?

After you endorse the back of the check(s) according to the instructions above, you will need to do the following:

  1. Download the DeposZip Mobile app if you don’t have it yet (you will only need to do this one time).
  2. Log in to your Mobile Banking account.
  3. Click on Accounts – Remote Check Deposit.
  4. Select the account you wish to deposit to, and then click Submit.
  5. Enter the total deposit amount of your check(s).
  6. Follow the steps to take pictures of your check.
  7. Review and submit your deposit.

How long should I hold on to my check(s) after I scan it using DeposZip?

Once you have scanned your check(s) and your deposit has been credited to your account, you should securely store the original check(s) for 30 days before destroying it.
