Give your employer or benefits provider your GenFed details, or submit GenFed’s direct deposit form:
Direct deposit changes may take one or more pay cycles, depending on your employer or benefits provider, so it helps to start this step early.
Update any recurring payments that pull from your old account. You’ll need GenFed’s routing number (241273269) and your account number. Common autopays include:
Keep your old account open until your direct deposit, autopays, and any pending payments have successfully moved to GenFed. This helps you avoid missed payments or returned items during the transition.
Once everything has cleared, you can close your old account. Closing a checking account generally does not affect your credit, because checking accounts are not credit accounts. Make sure all pending payments and deposits have cleared first.
